Aggregator pricing has a quiet assumption baked in: that your business should ride on their courier account, at their blended rates. BYOK — bring your own keys — removes that assumption. Your Delhivery account, your negotiated card, your COD terms, wired straight into the booking flow in your store.
How it works
You hold the carrier contract: sign up with Delhivery, Xpressbees, Porter, whoever covers your lanes, negotiate a card, and connect the credentials to the shipping layer. When an order books, the API call goes to your account — the courier bills you directly, at your price, on your invoice. The platform books, tracks and reconciles; it never touches the freight money.
That last part is the whole point. When the rate is yours, there is no markup hiding inside it — the platform fee, if there is one, is a separate honest line you can see and compare.
When BYOK wins — and when it doesn't yet
Wins: any volume where a courier will negotiate — a rule of thumb is north of a hundred orders a month per carrier. Also anytime you need rate certainty: your card doesn't reprice seasonally because an aggregator's blended pool shifted.
Doesn't yet: very early stores, single-digit weekly volume, or lanes no direct carrier serves cheaply. There the pooling argument is real — the aggregator's volume does buy rates you can't reach. The honest version of that service is a managed account with the markup disclosed as a fee line, not dissolved invisibly into the rate.
The test of a shipping platform: does it still work when the rates aren't theirs?
Pure Parcel runs BYOK — plug in Porter, Borzo, Delhivery or your own contracts, or ride our managed account at a disclosed fee. Either way you see both numbers.
See how →The migration path
The pragmatic route is staged: start on a managed account for coverage, add BYOK carriers as lanes justify direct contracts. Because the platform treats both identically — same booking flow, same tracking, same NDR queue — the switch is a credential, not a migration. The day your Delhivery card beats the pool, you plug it in and every subsequent order ships at your price.
The bottom line
The aggregator model sells you convenience and charges you in margin. BYOK keeps the convenience and hands you the margin back — plus rate stability, direct carrier relationships and an invoice you can actually audit. If your volume can negotiate, the only question is why you're still paying the blend.
